Hall of Fame infielder Joe Sewell was one of a kind in his ability to make contact, and it was hard contact as well. He hit over .300 in his career with strong power numbers for a player who was less than 5′-7″ in height. Nine straight times he had the best contract rate in the league and often by wide margins. In 1929 he had a record streak of over 520 plate appearances without striking out!
